How to find a Squatchyman...the complete guide.

3 DAYS...wow, where did the time go?  I'm sure all of you are busy doing your final preparations for Jamboree, and some of you are probably even on your way.  The weather forecast looks good for next week, the Squatchymen can't wait to head out to Sylvan Lake for CJ 13.

Thanks for following along with us, can't wait to meet you all in just a few days.  Here are a few final clues as to where you can spot a Squatchy.

Please be sure to come find us, we have lots of trade items and even a few things just to give away.  Be on the lookout for badges, pins, bracelets, and your very own, one of a kind, Squatchy necklace.  We have a limited number to give away, see if you can catch one.  If you happen to hit it right, you may even be able to get your picture taken with Squatchy...we are hoping to have lots of photos to post on this site of all our new friends after the jamboree.  Please be sure to share any photos with us on our site...we will make sure to post them for all to see.

So...if you see this banner...it will be in the subcamp of a dinosaur that has 3...or "tri"...horns...then you have found us.

If dinosaurs were still alive, this is what ours would look like.
Look, he's eating a plant!

So...it starts with a "tri", ends with a "top" and has a girls name in the middle.  (Which if you are an older person, was a girls's name, and also the name of a Jefferson Starship song...kids, ask your parents. )

Safe travels to all...see you there.

Rough week for Southern Alberta, our thoughts are with you.

So, as most of you are probably aware, southern Alberta was hit hard by some severe flooding this week.  While it definitely puts a damper on the fun of CJ13, we'd like to try to help put some fun back into it.

So here is our offer, our support for any groups that need it.

If you are from southern Alberta and are considering changing your plans to not come to Jamboree please be aware that on the Canadian Jamboree 2013 Facebook page there is a Scouts Canada contact taking names to help you all get there, this is the info taken directly from their post...
"Almost everyone has heard about the flooding that has hit Southern Alberta over the last few days. Seeing the damage and knowing that it has impacted many Scouting families is disheartening. We have started to hear of that some participants may have to cancel their attendance due to the loss of personal and group camping equipment. We are asking anyone who is experiencing this need to contact tfountain@scouts.ca to advise what you and/or group requires. We will put out the call within a few days for donations. We want to work together, so no one is left behind and can give those affected the chance for a bit of fun in-between the cleanup."

Please spread the word to Scouters in these areas, as I'm sure they have other concerns on their minds at the moment and may not be aware of this offer.  If you are one of these groups, please contact the e-mail from scouts.ca listed above, but also please let us know, we do have some extra equipment we can bring and we have a trailer to get it to the CJ13 site for you, or maybe you could just bring your food over one night for a group dinner at the Squatchymen campsite and a few laughs with new friends.

As for groups coming from other areas of Canada that may be wondering about changing some of their plans for travel and camping to and from the event, please post any questions below and we will do our best to answer them.  We are only about 30 minutes north east from the Sylvan Lake Jamboree site, and while we have had lots of rain in the last week, we are just a little soggy and not flooded, pretty much typical weather for this area in June.  If you were planning on travelling through and camping in one of the flooded areas and now need to make alternate plans and need help, let us know, there are several great little campgrounds in our area that would love to have you.  A few of us even may even be able to make room in our own backyards for you. Check out the City of Lacombe Regional Tourism website at www.lacombetourism.com they have 20 campgrounds listed for our area.

On that note, to all of you in southern Alberta and parts of BC, our thoughts are with you.  Stay safe, and let us know what you need.  We are looking forward to seeing you all at Jamboree.

Some crafting, along with Clue #3

Very productive night for Patrol #110.  Squatchy and his men were busy making some gifts for all the new friends they plan to make at Jamboree in only 19 days.  Make sure to come by and pick up your "one of a kind Squatchy".  We can't wait to meet you all.

Clue #3:  We are camped in a Herbivore section.

That's all for today.  Stay tuned for another clue soon.  Hope you are all having as much fun getting ready for CJ13 as we are.

Monday 10 June 2013

Squatchy is back, and practicing his cooking skills for CJ13, which will take place in about three and a half weeks.  Look at him go.  He is a cooking machine.

He's become a big part of our patrol.  Even though he likes to cook, he is having a hard time convincing everyone they should do the dishes.

Clue #2 in your search for the Squatchymen: We will be camping in the jamboree section named after the second most popular dinosaur in movies...T-Rex gets first place. (T-Rex may have eaten us...not good.  Oops, just gave you another clue.)

If you happen to have some time to tour Alberta, be sure to go to the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta.  We highly recommend it...and you can see "Black Beauty", one of the coolest T-Rex skulls of all time.  It is about a three hour drive from Camp Woods Jamboree site.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.  Be sure to sign our "Guestbook" page so we know to expect you.  Happy hunting, make sure to come get your picture taken with Squatchy.  Oh, and please be sure to share this with all your friends in other Patrols...the more the merrier!

Friday 31 May 2013

Oh look, it's Squatchy out doing some hiking with his new friend Albert the Albertasaurus!  Good to see them both getting ready for CJ13.

First Hint:  Patrol 110, the Squatchymen, are from the 1st Lacombe Scouts.  We are very lucky to live in Alberta, but you won't find us at CJ13 camped in the section you'd think we'd be in!  Nope, were are a lucky Patrol that gets to mingle with new friends this summer.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!  Make sure to sign up to "Follow Us" to get all our updates .  Also, be sure to click on the "Guestbook" tab at the top of the page and leave us a message so we know to expect your arrival!  "Wilbur" from Australia has already let us know to expect one of their members...we look forward to meeting you "Micky".  We will definitely also be going to see Carmen...she'll be near ice cream!  One of Squatchy's favorite treats!!  Yummy, can't wait for the fun to begin!

See you all next week with another clue!  Happy hunting!!
